Learn something new
Today I want to talk about some ideas or hobbies you can get into as I have picked up a few over the last few months.
Whether you want to distract yourself from something or want to try something new, there is something for you.
During the last few months, it can feel like you've wasted your days and your weeks doing absolutely nothing.
I for sure felt this way, but there are some things if you haven't already you can do to occupy your time.
Even though restrictions are being lifted right now, there's no better time than starting a new hobby.
My Top 10 Hobby list
1. Reading - I've spoken about it before and I will say it again reading is great for the mind. It opens up a lot of opportunities. Personal growth or fiction/non-fiction the words take you on a new journey and you can really get entwined into what you are reading. It can be an escape or it can be part of your journey.
2. Starting a blog - I've done it and I'm sure if you wanted to you could write about something you love. You can literally write about anything and everything. The world is your oyster.
3. Writing/journaling - Whether you write a story or journal down notes and feelings for yourself, writing is such a powerful tool and I highly recommend it. Writing can save you from yourself and it can certainly put you in a much happier mood.
4. Drawing - Doodles, sketches, full drawings or cartoons, whatever you like doing do it. Drawing broadens your mind, you can do or draw anything you put your mind too it doesn't have to be specific, draw what comes to mind.
5. Dancing - You don't have to be a professional. Have a dance party, makeup routines even do TikTok's whatever you fancy don't be afraid to try.
6. Scrapbooking - Find a book with blank paper, it can be lined, it can be plain whatever it is you can just start adding photos and doodles and much more to keep memories or just to have a bit of fun. Treasure your moments so you can look at them years to come or just be creative. This is definitely enjoyable, you can make it your own.
7. Exercising - Going back to the gym, or working out at home either way exercising is so good for you and great to get into the habit of doing. Make it your passion and not a chore, once you open up this possibility you won't find it boring or tiring.
8. Colouring - Adult colouring books are so good. They are so calming and put you in a good state of mind. Would definitely recommend getting a book and some pencils and start.
9. Making jewellery - This is a more creative hobby, it may be that you enjoy creating things. You could even make it more than a hobby and start your own business. It's truly so good to make your own things whether that be jewellery or something else, it really makes you feel apart of something.
10. Photography - Get a camera, it can be any camera, you don't need to be professional. You could even start with your mobile phone. Photography is so powerful and you can start telling stories from photos. Even if it is for fun you can create so many good photos for portraits, landscapes, literally anything. You could even go professional is if is truly your passion.
11. Learning a new language - This is an amazing hobby! I'm currently learning Spanish (trying to get fluent as I have studied Spanish before) but how incredible would it to speak another language fully!? I'm using an app called Duolingo but there are also other resources you can use like short stories/books, websites etc.
12. Cooking - I absolutely love cooking and always watch cooking programs like Saturday Morning with James Martin, and John and Lisa's Weekend Kitchen and Tom Kerridge. Even just watching these shows are a good hobby for you to get creative in the kitchen.
13. Meditation - This is a good hobby and habit to get into doing. It changes your state and pushes you into a really great positive mindset. Positive thoughts and powerful invasions who wouldn't want to better themselves and actually enjoy it?
14. Travelling - This can be a great hobby, you don't have to go abroad to do this. The UK is great to travel around, you have Scotland, Wales, and the whole of England to explore. Bars, restaurants and attractions, it doesn't just need to be the scenery there are so many things to enjoy.
15. Gardening - Do you have a green thumb? This would be perfect for you. Making your garden or other peoples gardens look pretty is a cool thing to do. Reading gardening books or even just experimenting, always making improvements is great.
I hope you take away some hobbies that you will enjoy and discover something new with these. Even attempting any of them will be so good for you. Constantly learning keeps your mind sharp.
Much love
T xx
