What are Stress and Anxiety?
Feeling nervous or frustrated can be symptoms of stress. Anxiety comes from fear or the feeling of worry.
Anxiety can be caused by stress. Sometimes people are unable to identify the stresses in their life.
The important thing to note is that they are not always bad.
However, if they are both interfering with your day to day life, there may be an underlying issue.
What are the feelings of Anxiety and Stress?
First of all, I'd like to point out that everyone suffers from both of these from time to time, some more than others.
Common feelings include fatigue, rapid breathing or shaking, fast heartbeat, headaches, muscle tension, dizziness, sweating, insomnia, loss of appetite and stomach aches etc.
In addition to physical feelings, it can also cause, irrational anger, panic, not able to concentrate, and feeling restless.
Causes of stress
People can be stressed for a number of reasons and it's better to check on your friends, and your loved ones or even strangers in the street as a good act of kindness as they could be suffering from something else other than the pandemic we are in, such as bereavement, pregnancy, having illness's or someone you know is ill, marriage, moving house, or starting a new job for examples.
Regular use of caffeine and alcohol often assumed 'help' the stress but in fact, they worsen it for you.
Managing Stress and Anxiety
I have mentioned many stress relievers before in my blog posts but I want to highlight these again because they are so so important and I cannot ' stress them enough (pun intended).
So.......
1. Talking to a friend
2. Practice deep breathing exercises.
3. MEDITATION!! - this is so relaxing and calming
4. 8 hours of sleep each night
5. Regular movement, whether that's a walk, stretch or workout move your body!
6. Journal, put your feelings down on paper.
7. Limit caffeine and alcohol.
8. Eat a well-balanced diet
9. Make time for your hobbies and interests.
10. Know your stress triggers and plan around this to make sure you limit it as much as possible.
My last point I want to make is to BE MINDFUL. BE INTUITIVE. Listen to your body.
All my Love,
