Light Therapy Lamp Review

What is a Light therapy lamp?

Effectively this is a lamp that helps treat seasonal affective disorder also known as SAD. It's a type of depression which happens only at a certain time of year for example in autumn, wintertime. It acts as your source of light that you miss out on in the darker mornings and early evenings.

How to use a light therapy lamp

It's recommended to use between 15 - 30 minutes in the morning depending on your individual needs to boost your mood and energy. If it's not making any difference then use this for up to 60 minutes.

My Review

I've been using this light for up to a week now. It's recommended to be 28 inches away from it to make an impact. I have been putting it either on my bedside table or in front of me on my bed when I'm completing my morning routine.

I have been thinking about ordering this lamp for a while now. I've been putting it off for ages. I decided to take the plunge in the black Friday deals and grabbed one.

Most of the ones on Amazon look pretty basic and boring. I didn't want to get rectangle one because honestly it doesn't look nice or interest me.

The one I have is an oval type shaped one, but with the design you can't be that picky as long as it does the job. I was so excited when I received this in the post. Next day delivery with amazon prime is the one!

It's very easy to use, it has 3 settings of brightness, 30%, 50% and 100%. With timers of 15,30,45 and 60 minutes. You just plug it in, and click on the power button. It also remembers the setting you had it on last time which is handy.

I think overall it has helped my mind and I feel more energised in myself. I wouldn't say it's 100% helped but only time will tell once I have used it for a while.

I've been doing early starts at work so I feel super exhausted at the moment, but when I use the lamp it is providing benefits to me. Making me have the get up and go motion like I did have in Spring and Summer.

I'm not sure how many people do suffer with the same situation this time of year but its incredibly difficult for me, for someone who likes getting up early and enjoy getting things done before the day starts. It's difficult because its so much harder to do it this time of year.

I would lie in bed for that extra half an hour to an hour sometimes after my alarm has gone off either trying to get that extra 10 minutes of sleep or just mindlessly scrolling on my phone, or even just lying there thinking.

It's not for me, and can make me feel really sluggish and crappy for the rest of my day. Lets see how I get on with using this for longer and the affects that it has on my mood and minset.

I think to be honest, if you are really struggling at the moment, it's worth giving it a shot, and they aren't too expensive either. The more you get out for walks too will also help you especially at lunch times during the week.

I'd really be interested in any stories or experiences you have had using something like this or opinions you have on this too.

I'll keep you posted.

Best wishes,
